The University of Kentucky's Annual Diversity Celebration
March 26, 2008

We loaded the buses and headed to the Singletary Center on UK's campus. It was a beautiful Wed. morning....even the cardinals were singing.

Upon arrival, we were given t-shirts and proceeded to line up to follow the 40 flag bearers across campus to the Grand Ballroom of the Student Center. Our Grand Marshalls were Lexington's Mayor Newberry, UK's President Todd, and Fayette Co. School's Superintendant Stu Silberman.

At the Grand Ballroom, students were given the opportunity to sample foods from many different cultures. There were tables set up where students could purchase crafts from "Ten Thousand Villages". While the students finished eating, we were entertained with dances from the various "host" countries.

We met on the front lawn when it was time to leave...... heads were counted.....twice.

We were largest group (77) and the only group with name tags, so everyone knew who we were. What great ambassadors the students were for Crawford Middle....they were outstanding!!!!!!!

A special thanks to all the chaperons, especially to Ms. Forgy and Mr. Booker, whose efforts in organizing this event made this opportunity for our students possible.
